Client: Assistance Dogs of Hawaii, Maui
Date Completed: 2010
Assistance Dogs of Hawaii (ADofH) retained CDD to develop a conceptual design for their proposed training campus in ‘Up-Country Maui’. HCI is a training and placement facility for service dogs and their prospective clients/owners. As the property bordered one of Maui’s historic cattle ranches, the architecture borrows from the topical ranch-land vernacular; simple wood frame buildings with metal hipped roofs. The U-shaped plan allows the interior spaces to flow out to the training courtyard, where dogs and clients train together in a private and safe environment.
